Marilea S. Hutchison, 93, of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully March 22 with her family by her side. Marilea was born the third of four daughters to E.N. Sunderland and Florence Etta Canon Sunderland of England, Arkansas October 9, 1925. She graduated from England High School in 1943 and married her high school sweetheart, Joe E. Hutchison that summer. While her husband served in WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College and worked at a munitions plant in Conway. After the war they started their family while Joe attended the University of Arkansas. The couple lived in several rural towns in Arkansas while Joe pursued his medical career. Through many moves Marilea's good humor and resilience gave her children a strong sense of family and stability. Ultimately the family settled in Benton where her children graduated from High School. Marilea was selfless in her love, care and devotion to her children. After raising them, Marilea loved taking road trips with her friends, sisters and family. Racing season at Oaklawn was her favorite time of year. Marilea was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sisters: Edwarda Wayne, Martha Jane Harvey, and Florence Ann (infant). She is survived by her children: Ed Hutchison, Joe D. Hutchison, Jeanine Jagodowicz (Morris), Susie Gould (Brian), nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as her best friend of 88 years, LaFern Linn. Visitation will be Wednesday March 27th from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Services will be held at the same location Thursday, March 28 at 1 p.m. Graveside ceremony and burial will follow the funeral service at Forest Hills Cemetery, 10200 Highway 5 N, Alexander, Arkansas 72002. www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
