Star date: April 20, 2019 Captain's Log Death: the final frontier We celebrate the life of James Robert "J.R." Peyer, his 58 year mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. He was born March 24, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Joseph and Mary Therese Peyer. He was of the Catholic faith. J.R. was a Registered Nurse for 25 years. He was formerly Chief of Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Assistant Chief of the Mayflower Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Retia Green Peyer of Maumelle; children, Joseph Peyer (Danielle) of Conway, Mary Beth Brewer (Micheal) of North Little Rock, Amy Pertuit (Ryan) and Kevin Green (Lisa) of Helena; sister, Jean Ann Patterson (Lonnie) of Nolensville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; especially close nephew, Chris Katilius of Zigler, Ill.; and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Cathy Katilius and Terry Wood. Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, followed by Funeral Service at 2 p.m. at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
