John "Jay" Curran Neff

John "Jay" Curran Neff, born March 15, 1922 in Mobile, Alabama, to John Sr. and Edna Neff. Jay passed away on May 27, 2019 in Sherwood, Arkansas. Jay is preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas, sister Gloria, and his first wife Jaquelin. He moved to Beaumont, Texas with his mother, brother Thomas, and sister Gloria. Following graduation from high school, Jay joined the Navy, where he received several commendations and medals, including the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. After completing his service in the Navy in 1948, Jay and his brother started Neff Brothers Automobile and Wrecker Services in Beaumont. He was a devout member of St. Anthony Basilica in Beaumont. Jay is survived by his wife, Marilyn Furtick Neff, of Sherwood; three nephews, John, Pat, and Tim Neff of Beaumont, and his nieces; his dear friends Alieta Easley of North Little Rock, Lee and Di Walters of Beaumont, and Angela Juneau of Nederland. He also leaves behind his furbabies Abbie, Jingle, Mattie, Roxie, and Trooper. A special thanks to the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living on Brockington Road in Sherwood, Arkansas. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas with services to follow. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors.
