Anne Marie Hamilton

Anne Marie Hamilton, AIA, age 41 died on October 17, 2019 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Anne was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2010. Anne died due to complications from an allogeneic stem cell transplant which she received in April, 2011 at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Anne fought her disease and her treatment for nearly 10 years with purpose, clarity, and vision. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1978, Anne's family moved to Highland Village, Texas when she was 9. Anne graduated from Marcus High School in 1996 and Cum Laude from Texas A&M in 2001. Anne attained her masters degree in architecture at the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2003. Anne met her husband, Sterling, in Chicago and together they moved to Seattle where they remained for nine years. Following the birth of their son, Robert Ray Hamilton in 2014, Anne moved to her husband's home town of Fayetteville, Arkansas that same year. Anne focused on architecture and real estate development, working closely with her husband. Anne was passionate about infill development and the urban experience. She was one of the first architects in the state of Arkansas to be Passive House Certified and lived out her ideals of sustainability both personally and professionally. Anne achieved her dream of owning and operating her own design and development firm two years before she passed. Roots Design and Development was so named because Anne felt that she had found a community where both her roots and her dreams could take hold. Anne was extremely active in her community including Northwest Arkansas AIA – Treasurer, Habitat for Humanity board member, and P.E.O., Chapter S, of Fayetteville Arkansas. Anne is survived by her husband Sterling Hamilton and son, Robert Ray Hamilton of Fayetteville; her mother Jeanie (Marois) Korte of Highland Village, Texas; her siblings Peter Korte of Highland Village, Texas, Jamey Korte of Golden, Colorado, and Matt Matzet of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sterling's parents Howard and Treva Hamilton of Fayetteville; Sterling's brother and sister-in-law Jordan and Rachel Hamilton of Dallas; nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and long time friends whom she loved dearly. Anne was preceded in death by her father, John Korte, of Highland Village, Texas. A memorial service is planned at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Gifts in her memory can be made to Hope Cancer Resources or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
