Kenneth C. Young

Kenneth C. Young, age 85, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and community leader passed away November 4, 2019, in his Bella Vista, Ark. home. He is survived by his wife Martha (Marty) Williams Young; children Barry and Cindy Young of Neodesha, Kan.; Craig Young and Tara Kennedy of Grand Junction, Colo.; Suzy and Tom Wilson of Butler, Pa.; John Young of Bella Vista, Ark., and 10 grandchildren, Josh Young, Audrey Hatler, Kyle Young, Amelia Williams, Ivy Self, Grace Young, Evan Young, Adam Young, Todd Wilson, Jordan Jenkins and brother, Gene and Dixie Young; sister, Mary and Steve Bulk, and their families. Kenneth was born on September 1, 1934, in Kirby, Ark. across from the diamond mines at Murfreesboro. His parents were Magdalene Foshee and Louis Young. At an early age, the family moved to Iola, Ks. where he attended schools, graduating from Iola, JuCo., where he played basketball. In 1955 Ken married Martha (Marty) Williams in the Christian Church. Kenneth began a 41-year career in education in Anderson County, Kan., where he was an elementary school teacher at Westphalia. Kenneth received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Emporia State University and a Specialist Degree at Wichita State University. His family lived in Elmdale, LeRoy, Belle Plaine, Garnett and Winfield, Ks., where he participated in local churches and community clubs, a special one being the volunteer fire department at Garnett, Ks. Marty and Ken Young spent 20 years of retirement in Bella Vista, Ark. where they began attending auctions, playing softball, and poker. Ken was a member of the Bella Vista Bass Association and fished local lakes with family and friends until his recent health decline. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 8th at Bella Vista Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bella Vista, Ark.
