James Herbert Daily, longtime resident of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, passed away on November 10, 2019 in Little Rock at age 77. He was born in Sparkman, Arkansas, to James Wilson Daily and Nona Jones Daily. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Nancy Smith Daily; his sister Jeannetta Caddy and husband Jerry of Tyler, Texas; his brother Phillip Daily and wife Cindy of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; his son David Wilson Daily and wife Teresa of Clarksville, Arkansas; Lynda Daily of Little Rock, widow of his son Steven; step-daughters, Paige Beck (Brian) and Ashli Francis (Shawn). He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Betty Sue Denton Daily, his son Steven Wayne Daily, and unnamed twin boy and girl who died at birth. Known as Herb to friends and family, Mr. Daily worked for over thirty years in private business as a sawmill operator with his father Wilson, brother Phillip, and son Steven. Together they expanded the small family enterprise, Daily Lumber Company, into a business with over fifty employees. In retirement he maintained several real estate properties in Arkadelphia. Mr. Daily was a committed member of Park Hill Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church (Little Rock) when he died. His faith gave him a heart for others, and he devoted himself to mission work, to community service, and to listening to others with a kind and generous ear. He had a gift for encouraging others that brought out the best in them. He was truly a fine and decent man, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He and Betty Daily were blessed with four grandchildren: Nicholas (Jessica), Austin, Emma, and Wilson. They also have two great-grandchildren: Stephen and Mathias. When Herb married Nancy he was blessed with four step-grandchildren: Morgan, Chandler, Cole, and Jake. uneral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia with Rev. Blake McKinney, Dr. Lee McGlone and Rev. Jimmy Darby officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the fellowship hall. Interment will be in Sparkman Cemetery.
