Jeff Leonard Nichols, Jr.

Jeff Leonard Nichols, Jr., 92 current resident of Springdale, Ark., departed this life November 14, 2019, a long-time resident of Dumas, Ark. Born November 27, 1926 at Blackwell, Ark., the son of the late Jeff Leonard Nichols, Sr., and Annie Marvel Harrington Nichols. His parents and brother, Forrest Nichols, preceded him in death. Mr. Nichols was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Dumas, being very active in the church for as long as his health permitted. He was co-owner of Nichols Food Market for 32 years in Dumas. He served in the United States Army during WWII. His lifelong hobbies included fishing with his brother and flying his single engine airplane with Kathryn to lots of scenic places. He and Kathryn also enjoyed many trips around the country with their church group. Survivors are his loving wife of 74 years, Kathryn "Katie" Nichols of Springdale, Ark., daughter Linda Watts of Springdale, Ark., and grandson Christopher Louis Watts of Charlotte, N. C. Visitation and services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Visitation held from 1 p.m., until service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dubs Byers officiating and interment following at Walnut Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 East Waterman Street, Dumas, Ark., 71639.
