Josephine Taylor Smith, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Natural Steps, Ark. transitioned into eternal rest on November 14, 2019 surrounded by family. She was the matriarch of her family, who instilled Godly morals and values in a non-traditional way. Wearing many hats to both family and friends; she was a great cook, counselor, educator, and caregiver-always serving with a smile. Her earthly purpose was greatly seen through her grandchildren, all of whom will forever be grateful of her ability to keep their secrets, and be a co-signer of things they should and should not do- never to say "I told you so." She is preceded in death by parents Harry and Idella Eckwood Taylor, brothers: Andrew, Lonzo, and Albert Taylor, sisters: Velma and Cora Taylor; husband: Ezekiel Smith; son: Calvin Smith, and grandchildren: Tyrone Lewis Jr., Wesley Smith Jr., and Derrick Smith.She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters: Mildred (Marvin) Lewis-Taylor, and Tonya (Tony) Matlock Christopher; sons: Steven Bailey (Angela) and Wesley Smith (Earlyonna) all of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Sisters: Georgia Ray, Vernice Westbrook, both of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters-in-law: Laferious Taylor, Ida Jewel Campbell, brother-in-law: Harold Smith-all of Little Rock, Ark. A special life-long friend, Mrs. Christine Harris of Little Rock, Ark. She had an open-door policy that included meals, laughter, advice, and a shoulder to cry on for countless family and friends who will miss her greatly. Special thanks to the following healthcare workers who gave of their time and skills to offer medical help, advice, and comfort during this time: Dr. Roudachevski, DO and staff, Barbara Walker, Valorie Wheeler, Arkansas Hospice, and Nurses: Anita and Shawnee. Family Hour will be held at 6:15-7:15 p.m., Friday,at Robinson Mortuary and Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday,at First Baptist Church Main Street, 2015 Main Street, NLR, Ark. 72114.
