Deoin Lance Martin

Deoin Lance Martin, 90, of Greenland, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his home. He was born April 18, 1929 to the late Lance Henry Martin and Lillie Mae Fuller Martin in Marshall, Arkansas. It was in his hometown where he learned to live and enjoy a simple life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved learning and school. School gave him an education and opportunity to play sports. His high school basketball team won the state tournament three consecutive years but played in the finals, for four years. Thanks to a traveling evangelist that stopped by his school, he put his faith and trust in Jesus. He had a strong devotion to his late wife Kathryne Sue McClain Martin (August 7, 1949) which produced a love that lasted sixty-three years. Out of that marriage it produced four children: daughter, Kattie Wing (Tony) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, son, Mike Martin (Kim) of De Queen, Arkansas, son, Keith Martin (Elaina) of Searcy, Arkansas and a daughter, Lou Ann Martin of Rogers, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He coached baseball several years while his boys played. He was a member of the Greenland Board of Education for six years while serving as chairman four of those years. He had a simple devotion to God that manifested itself as charter member of First Baptist Church of Greenland, Arkansas while serving as deacon since 1967. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Greenland with Pastor Eric Howerton officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 1 p.m. until service-time at the church. Interment will follow in Baptist Ford Cemetery. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
