James (Mike) Michael Gray

James (Mike) Michael Gray, 61, of Austin, passed away October 9, 2019. He was born June 9, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the Allen Wayne and Joyce Marie Wells Gray. Mike graduated from Richfield High School in Waco, Texas in 1976 where he was a member of the marching and jazz bands. He went to college for a time as a music major at McLennan Community College. In 1982 he married his high school sweetheart, Kathy. Together they had two sons, Thomas Wayne and Justin Michael Gray. He worked for various telecommunications companies most of his career. Mike spent over ten years teaching and training Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Cabot for Troop 201, also leading two trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico with them. He earned a "Wood Badge" which is a course in adult leadership training. He enjoyed woodworking his entire life. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Allen Wayne Gray. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-seven years, Kathy; two sons, Thomas Wayne (Amanda Nicole) Gray of Beebe and Justin Michael (Ashleigh Lauren) Gray of Ward; two grandsons, Lincoln Michael and Rowan Bishop Gray; mother, Joyce Marie Gray of Jacksonville, Texas and sister, Darlene Moore of Chicago, Illinois. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Seth Young, IV officiating. Interment will follow at Monk Cemetery.
