TILMA HICKS, age 95, of Jacksonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 8th, 2019. She was born June 19th, 1924 in Prattsville, Ark., to Nellie and Tilman Holiman, one of nine siblings. A true Christian woman, she was a charter member of Geyer Springs First Baptist church, and later in life, she became a member of Jacksonville Second Baptist Church. Tilma, a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell, met the love of her life, Harvey while working there. Her proudest accomplishments were her children; Andy, Victor, and Nancy, and she loved being surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, her husband, son Victor, and granddaughter Tollie. She is survived by; her children, Andy (Darlene), Nancy Jauernig (Bill), daughter-in-law, Karen Hicks, grandchildren, Jacob Hicks (Reda), Brandy Owen (Donnie), Drew Hicks, Victoria Brazeal (Ty), six great-grandchildren and a host of many friends. A graduate of Mabelvale High School, she worked the switchboards for the phone company, then became a full time homemaker after her marriage in 1947. Tilma returned in 1974 to SW Bell, investigating long distance fraud. She retired in 1986, enjoying time fishing and gardening with Harvey. A celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 14, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock, Ark., with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Pastor Al Graham will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
