Wendell D. Chapman

Wendell D. Chapman, 69, departed this life on Oct. 10th, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Beulah Chapman, one brother Bobby Chapman and two special brothers in law: Ray Jones and KO Adams. Wendell was the General Manager of Grand Prairie Regional Water Distribution District for 28 years. In 1998, he was awarded Arkansas Water Manager of the year. He served as chairman of the Arkansas Water and Wastewater Environment Association, Arkansas Rural Water Association and the Arkansas Water and Wastewater Managers Association. He is the only individual to have served as chairman of all three. He was honored to be the 2nd recipient to have received the HH Harvell award. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years: Mollie, two daughters Dee Dee Stauss (Jeremy) and Amy Niemann (Jody). He has seven grandchildren: Emily Caughron (Brendan), Hannah Niemann (Chandler), Ty Lester, Joseph Niemann, Colby, Hannah and Megan Stauss. Siblings: Dorothy Moore, Odis Chapman (Louise), Emment Chapman (Virginia), Donald Chapman (Teresa), Carl Chapman (Paulette) and Kathleen Adams and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the visitation, beginning at 5, and will continue after the memorial service until 8 p.m. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway.
