David Paul "Peanut" Ervin

Mr. David Paul "Peanut" Ervin of Newport, Ark., departed this life at his home on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the age of 55. He was born July 10, 1964, in Newport, the son of late Kenneth Owens "Peanut" Ervin and Billye Caughron (Taylor) Ervin. David was a 1982 graduate of Newport High School and graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in East Camden, Ark. David was a twenty year veteran of the Newport Police Department. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing with his father and friends. He was an avid baseball fan and made yearly trips to St. Louis to support his favorite team, the Cardinals. David's true passion, however was bowling. He was an excellent bowler who in 1978 at the age of 13 became the youngest person in the state to bowl a perfect 300 game; as the owner and operator of Newport Bowling Center he continued to improve his game and bowled many more 300 games. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Taylor. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Taylor of Newport; two brothers, Gary Taylor and wife (Suzi) of Sand Springs, Okla., and Joey Taylor of Newport; sister-in-law, Ann Taylor of Little Rock; an aunt, Mozell Ervin Hannah of Benton, Ark.; his loving and constant companion, Millie; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime of friends. Visitation will be held at Dillinger Funeral Home from 2-4 on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Life Celebration service will be 2 Monday, October 21, 2019, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Sandhill Cemetery immediately following the service. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Bob Trout, Robbie Patterson, Allen Edwards, Ashley Edwards, Tommy Berry, and Donny Schultez.
