Joe Douglas Weatherly, age 74, of Bearden, passed away October 21, 2019 in his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Virginia Weatherly. He is survived by his wife, Cherrynell Abbott Weatherly of Bearden and his son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Allison Weatherly of Bearden. He has two grandchildren, Hannah Weatherly of Little Rock and Hunter Weatherly of Bearden. He is also survived by his sister, Burke Brown of Mobile, Ala.; his three brothers, Jeff (Judy) Weatherly of Bentonville, Ark., Terry (Jo) Weatherly of Bearden, Ark. and Russell (Barbara) Weatherly of Fordyce, Ark. He was blessed with many nieces, nephews and friends. As a graduate of Bearden High School, Joe attended HSU in Arkadelphia, Ark. before beginning a career as a clerk for the Cotton Belt Railroad. After 20 years of service for the railroad, he became a lumber salesman for Anthony Timberlands until his retirement. After retirement he worked part time for his brother, Russell, at the Bearden Parts Center. He was a member of Bearden First Assembly of God. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, bird watching, tending to his garden, wood working and family gatherings. Visitation will be at the Benton Funeral Home chapel in Fordyce, Ark. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Services will be held immediately after visitation at the funeral home.
