Garld Wayne Rickford

Garld Wayne Rickford, age 74, of Benton, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019. He was born September 12, 1945 in Brownsville, Texas. Garld was a self-employed building contractor and a member of the Fishers of Men. He grew up in the Avilla Lutheran Church and later became a member of Old Union Baptist Church. Garld was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eula Rickford and two brothers, Clifford Rickford (Pat) and Harrold Rickford. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Rickford; daughter, Cindy Rickford; son, Matt Rickford (Gina); sister, Virginia Scroggins; four grandchildren, Shelby Haglar (Marcus), Ryan Rickford (Haley), Wesley Marshall (Kristina) and Tanner Marshall (Kari); two great-grandsons, Henry Haglar and Weston Marshall and numerous extended family and friends. Pallbearers will be Brian Drennan, Ronald Drennan, Sam Johnson, Jimmy Cates, Charlie Hinkson, Jeff Mabry, Rusty Moore and Jessie Blaylock. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, October 28 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Bolin Cemetery in Paron. Pastor Philip Hinkson will be officiating.
