Benton, AR, 1952 - 2019

Christopher C. Butler, age 66, of Benton, Ark., formerly of Russellville, Ark., passed away Wednesday August 21, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born on September 15, 1952 in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Perry Butler Sr. and Rosalind (Murrell) Butler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Conrad "Sam" Sansoucy and his niece, Shannon Ardoin. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Katherine Butler; his children, Jennifer Mitchell with husband Robbie and Blake Humphrey; "Pepere" to his twin grandsons, Rhett and Barrett Mitchell; brothers Charles Butler, Lee Butler with wife Sherry & Steve Butler with wife Susan; sisters Annette Ardoin with husband Ken & Dianne Linebarger; Brother in-laws Mark Sansoucy with wife Erin, George Sansoucy, John Sansoucy with wife Meredith; sister in-laws Michelle Gillum with husband Kenny & Cori Sansoucy; his favorite mother in-law, Jeannette Sansoucy; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Chris served his country in the US Navy on the USS Gallant 489 minesweeper, surviving the waters of a three day typhoon. He loved working on his cars and going to cars shows. His passion for cars showed in every car he restored. He had a huge heart for animals & loved to care for them. Chris re-homed many of his rescued critters. Chris & Kathy moved to Benton, Ark., to be closer to his favorite little guys, Rhett & Barrett. "Pepere" wanted to teach them all about boy things. Chris firmly believed that you should treat people how they treat you. Chris had a uniquely humorous quick wit that kept his friends and family entertained and laughing. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Ark., with Bro. Louis Hill officiating.
