Garry Bernard Glasco

Dr. Garry Bernard Glasco was born to Elmer and Laura belle Glasco on September 27, 1955 in Denton, Texas at Flow Memorial Hospital. Glasco was a dedicated servant and deacon at Morning Star Baptist Church in North Little Rock under Rev. Robert Jenkins. He graduated with honors from McGehee High School and Henderson State University. While attending college, he pledged Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. in the fall of 1975 and was a dedicated member Pi Nu Lambda Graduate Chapter. After graduation, Glasco worked as a chemist at Maybelline Cosmetics Company. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He went on to earn his M.D. degree from UAMS in 1992 where he received the H. Elvin Sheffield Award for medical leadership. He also received the SNMA Edith Irby Jones Chapter Outstanding Senior Award and was elected as the Associate Student Government Resident. During his internal medicine residency, he served a year as Chief Resident. He was also a member of Arkansas Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association (AMDPA). After completing his nephrology fellowship in 1998, Glasco entered private practice with Nephrology Associates of Central Arkansas. In February 2019 he also received the Henderson State Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award. Glasco served on various hospital committees and was an active member of the American Medical Association and other medical organizations. He has been published twice in medical journals. He was co-owner of Central Arkansas Vascular Center and co -owner of 3G Transportation in Oklahoma City. Glasco is survived by his daughters, Gillian Jeane' Glasco and Giahna Lauryn Glasco; both presently reside in Harlem, New York, his mother; Laura Belle Glasco of Arkansas City, Arkansas, Gillian's fiance', Alfonso Johnson of Queens, New York, God-Daughter; Tiffany Lynn Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, an aunt; Ivory Colston of Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of beloved cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father; Elmer "Pop" Glasco. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019, 11:30 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1709 John Barrow Road in Little Rock, Arkansas. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday September 7, 2019, 11 a.m., C.B. King Adult Center, 1008 Sadie Lee Avenue, Arkansas City, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Pi Nu Lambda Graduate Chapter for the Dr. Garry Glasco Scholarship Funds.
