Charles Wooten "Charlie" Dougherty

Charles Wooten "Charlie" Dougherty went to be with our Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was born on July 7, 1936 in Malvern, Ark., to Barney and Erma (Mallett) Dougherty. Charlie played baseball at Malvern High School and was a lifelong fan of the sport. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962. He worked as a millwright, and was known to all as a man who could build or fix anything. In his spare time he was an avid woodworker, and greatly enjoyed building gifts for his friends, neighbors, and family. He taught Sunday school for many years at the Mallettown United Methodist Church. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Virginia Jordan. Charlie is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Pat Dougherty of Higden; his sons, Chuck Dougherty and Dave Dougherty both of Little Rock; one sister, Vonceil Porter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his brother Clark Dougherty of Ocala, Fla.; his grandchildren Will, Beth and Sam Dougherty and many other extended family members and friends. Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Crestlawn Memorial Park at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mallettown United Methodist Church, 275 Town Cir., Springfield, Ark. 72157.
