John Harry Beck Jr., 92, of Stuttgart, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at his home. Mr. Beck was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Stuttgart, to John Harry Beck Sr. and Minnie Maude Goodwin Beck. The Navy veteran was a member Stuttgart Jaycees when the club was active and was also a member of Big Island Hunting Club, American Legion, VFW and Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a longtime Prairie County rice and soybean farmer and was named Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1964. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Walter Beck; granddaughter, Natalie Newkirk Dickson; great-granddaughter, Rebeccah Faith Turnbull; brothers, Walter William Beck and Donald Joseph Beck; and sisters, Dorothy Berg and Eva Lou Harris. Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Margaret Ann Beck; daughters, Debbie Newkirk of Stuttgart, Rebeccah Sullivan of Dallas and Cindy Beck of Bozeman, Mont.; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 803 S. Grand Ave., Stuttgart, Ark., 72160.
