Pat Peacock

Patricia Mae Peacock, 81, of Stuttgart passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. She was born August 13, 1938. She is the daughter of the late Chesley Peacock and late Sophie and Chick Major. Survivors are daughter Melody (Larry) Stackhouse of Stuttgart; sisters, Brenda (Don) Cahill of Morrilton, Dixie (Eddie) Holt of Crossett and Gloria (John) Bevberberg of Gillett; grandchildren, Sarah (Charles) Leech of Stuttgart, K'Leigh (Mark) Looney of Benton and Zach Stackhouse of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Landon Leech of Stuttgart and Mason and Mara Looney; many cousins; and countless friends. Pat was a lifelong resident of Stuttgart and considered the town's official ambassador. She was a sincere, natural role model to so many generations. She was a 1956 graduate of Stuttgart High School and attended Arkansas State Teacher's College (UCA). Pat was the first Queen Mallard and held many duck-calling titles including Junior Worlds, Women's State, World's Champion and Champion of Champions. She was a true outdoor sportswoman that advocated for so many organizations. She was inducted into the Game and Fish Commissions National Outdoor Hall of Fame as well as Conservationist of the Year for Arkansas. She was an influential woman on Game and Fish Board and Foundation. Pat owned and ran the iconic Majestic Dress Shop for 43 years and put her whole life into helping women become better individuals. After closing the store, she became the Director of the Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie. Pat was a very talented pianist sharing her enchanted sound at special occasions, church and civic events and also playing for home-based sing-a-longs. An avid antique collector and eye for the unique, she organized and conducted estate sales along with decorating many homes and events. Pat's greatest talent was insight, coupled with the impossible, which lent her life so many great challenges and honors. She was an inspiration to women everywhere. Among her other honors or accomplishments were: member of First United Methodist Church serving in almost every capacity including music director, organist, children's choirs, formation of bell choir, Joy Singers and Board. She served on Stuttgart City Council, Quorum Court, Justice of Peace for Arkansas County, Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce duck-calling committees, board president and others, Stuttgart Industrial Development Corporation, Grand Prairie War Memorial Association and others. National Federal Independent Businesses, SRMC board, 1981 Small Businesswoman of the year for State of Arkansas, Stuttgart Citizen of the Year and Arkansas Volunteer of the year. She was also active with her Class of 56. Pat appeared in numerous magazines and was featured on television and radio shows around the nation representing duck calling, conservation and Stuttgart. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at First United Methodist Church in Stuttgart with visitation from 9:30-11 a.m., in the life center.
