Vernon Green

Vernon Green, 94, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, June 19, 1925. He was born December 7, 1925 in Pine Bluff, son of I.V. and Lela Mae Taylor Green. Mr. Green was reared and received his early education in the Sulphur Springs community, graduating early from Watson Chapel High School so he could serve his country in World War II with the United States Army. After the War, Mr. Green returned to Pine Bluff. He worked for Hudson Pulp/Georgia Pacific. He was a member of Hawley United Methodist Church. Mr. Green enjoyed writing music, reading cowboy books, spending time with grandkids and traveling. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Mountain View, Branson, Missouri, the Gulf of Mexico and the Smokey Mountains. Along with his parents, Mr. Green was preceded in death by his brother, Veo Green; and sister, Vivian Studdard. Survivors include his wife, Bennie Jean Watson Green, whom he married September 28, 1949 in Pine Bluff; two sons, Neal Green (Theresa) of Sulphur Springs and Glenn Green (Nina) of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Melissa Bird (Jason), Brian Green (Amber), Daniel Green, Chase Green (Elizabeth) and Tyler Green; and three great-grandchildren, Alexia Green, Bradley Green and Braxton Green. A graveside service will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at Fitzhugh Cemetery with Dr. Kurt Boggan officiating. Memorials may be made to Hawley United Methodist Church, P.O.
