James Lee Sheets

Jim Sheets, age 88, of Bella Vista, died March 1st, 2020. Jim is survived by his wife, Martha, of 65 years, one daughter, Kimberly and three sons, Mark, Kevin and Aaron, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Jim spent 17 years on the Administration of John Brown University. He served in the Arkansas House of Representatives, being the first Republican in the Arkansas House of Representatives since Reconstruction. He also served as Manager of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce and later was the real estate agent selling the property on the Illinois River to the Day Spring Greeting Cards Company. He retired from his position as Executive Secretary of the Kiwanis International Foundation in Indianapolis, Ind. He joined the Kawanis Club of Siloam Springs in 1953. He had been a Kiwanian for 66 years. He retired in 1998 and he and family moved to Bella Vista. Jim was a devoted Christian, having given his life to Jesus Christ at age 9. He was a member of Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista. He served in the leadership of Youth for Christ Clubs in Siloam Springs and Columbus, Ga. He also taught Sunday school class for both children and adults. Cremation arrangements have been made by Westfield Chapel of Springdale, Arkansas. Memorial services will be held at Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, March 14, 2020 at 11 a.m.
