Sadie Lou Gilmore Booker, 95 of El Dorado, died Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born October 13, 1924 in Strong, Arkansas to the late John Cleveland and Louquence Norris Gilmore. She was a graduate of Strong High School. She also had degrees in Home Economics and Nutrition from Louisiana Tech University. She retired from the El Dorado School System in 1994 after 35 years of service. A member of the Greatest Generation, and a child of the Great Depression, she was always thankful for her blessings and learned how to share those blessings, no matter how limited, with others who had even less. She was a long-time member of the East Faulkner Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Meaher and her husband, Gus of Mobile, Alabama; a son, Bill Booker and his wife, Carolyn of Little Rock, Arkansas; a daughter, Sara Booker Finnell of El Dorado, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Four Meaher of Montgomery, Alabama, Meg Meaher of Charlotte, North Carolina, Annie Meaher of Los Angeles, California, Sarah Meaher of Orlando, Florida, Helen Meaher of New York City and Sadie Wright of Concord, North Carolina. Other survivors include a sister, Frances Michels of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Mary June Burnett of Wynne, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George William Booker; a sister, Clara Hollis; a brother, Jack Gilmore and a son-in-law, Charles Finnell. Memorials may be made to the Berean Family Home, c/o Mount Olive Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1009, Brookhaven, Miss. 39601. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Bruce Murphy and his wonderful colleagues at Arkansas Heart Hospital. In light of the ongoing public health concerns and in compliance with the current CDC guidelines, the family has decided to hold a small gathering of family and close friends at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Young's Funeral Directors, 508 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, Ark. 71730.
