JoAnn Baker, 82, of Springdale, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, peacefully at her home. She was born August 9, 1938, in Winslow, Ark., to Clifford and Jewel Sebourn Deen. JoAnn was a wonderful mother and friend. She was patient, kind, a good listener and had a sweet and gentle spirit. With a true servant's heart, she always put others first. She loved to sing, play the piano, sew, work in the garden and cook. Her greatest desire in life was to be a mom, and what a beautiful mother she was. Her children and grandchildren were blessed by her kindness and positive outlook. Her family will miss her Sunday lunches, biscuits and gravy, strawberry jam, birthday pie, chicken casserole, fried okra and homemade hot chocolate with toast, to name a few. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years Earl Raymond Baker, her brothers, James, Gerald and Weldon Deen, sister, Kathy Deen Mortenson and a niece, Pam Bachman. Survivors include sons, Tim (Deanah) Baker of Springdale and Michael (Catherine) Baker of Fayetteville, daughters, Joy Baker of Springdale and Melanie Herman (Jeff) of Collierville, Tenn., eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Nedra Frain of Rogers, and niece, Patti Gay of Rogers. The family would like to thank Michele Collins, Kathryn McConnell, and Miari Peterson for their help in caring for our mother. Pallbearers will be JoAnn's grandchildren: Grant Herman, Justin Baker, Gracyn Herman, Rachel Baker, John Riley Baker, Thomas Baker, Elizabeth Baker, and Evan Baker. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m., at Bluff Cemetery.
