Dorothy "Dottie" Knoll Gunnell

Dorothy "Dottie" Knoll Gunnell, 81, of DeWitt, passed away November 5, 2020. She was born December 19, 1938, to Howard Dean and Florence Meins Knoll. Dottie married Clarence Gunnell on June 8, 1958. They were married for 61 years before he passed away earlier this year. Dottie was a busy homemaker and farmer's wife. When her husband retired from farming they began traveling the U.S. working for Blackmon Auction. She was also an active and faithful member of First United Methodist Church in DeWitt. She sang for many years in the Chancel Choir, and was a member of United Methodist Women. Dottie loved to watch her sons and grandsons play Dragon football, and didn't miss many activities of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Gunnell; and her brother, Bill Knoll. Dottie is survived by her sons and their wives, John Howard and Linda Gunnell and Jeff and Michell Gunnell all of DeWitt; five grandchildren Bridget Norberg (Clint), John Denton Gunnell (Paige), Will Gunnell (Tara), Spencer Gunnell, and Tiner Gunnell; four great-grandchildren, Carter Nordberg, Linleigh and Ruth Gunnell, and Clancy Gunnell; and one sister, Linda Hall of Hot Springs. She was always cheerful and willing to lend a helping hand. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7, at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens, by Essex Funeral Home.
