Helen Johanna Schnable Majewski, 96, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, November 20, 2020 at Trinity Village Medical Center. She was born September 10, 1924, daughter of Frederick Rannenberg and Ruth Schnable. As a child she was tutored in the European style of home schooling which, besides the basics, included a comprehensive grounding of musical training. She studied the ballet and was an accomplished pianist, violinist and organist. After meeting her future husband, Zygmunt Majewski, she became one of the few women pilots during World War II. Zygmunt taught flying at Hartsfield Army Air Corps in Atlanta. Helen would often fly to pick him up when he would come home from various stations throughout the country. Helen's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and she documented her journeys by keeping amazing scrap books which she did all her life. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth McEntire. Survivors include her five children, Jeanne Painton, Kathy Majewska, Zygmunt Majewski, Jr., Diane Crowder and Jon Majewski; and seven grandchildren. She had a great belief in the afterlife – so peacefully went home. Due to covid-19, the church service will be private. A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Bellwood Cemetery with The Rev. C.B. Baker officiating. Mrs. Majewski will be in state Tuesday afternoon from 2:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Robinson's. In lieu of flowers, all donations would be greatly appreciated to Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 West 3rd Avenue, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71601 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Attn: Tribute Department, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tenn. 38148.
