Karen Richardson Gambel

Karen Richardson Gambel died October 24, 2020. Born June 27, 1951, at Pocahontas to Kenneth and Mary Ella Mabry Richardson, Karen grew up on the family farm west of Corning, Ark. (Datto). A state spelling champ and honor graduate of Corning High School, she completed bachelors and master degrees at Arkansas State University. She enjoyed a 35-year career as a licensed mental health counselor. An accomplished orchid grower and exhibitor, Karen loved gardening and anything that involved having a hoe in her hands, which was a problem for copperheads. Preceded in death by her parents; and a niece, Shannon Steed, she is survived by her husband of 48 years Richard; sister, Sharon "Crickett" Ramey (Stan); brother, Kenny Richardson (Jai); three nephews; and a host of grandnieces and nephews. No services are planned. Cremains will be interred by Ermert Funeral Home at Richwoods Cemetery west of Corning, which adjoins the Shiloh Baptist Church where Karen and Richard were married.
