Robert James McGehee, Sr.

Robert James McGehee, Sr., of Monticello, Ark., transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at McGehee Health and Rehabilitation Center in McGehee, Ark. Robert McGehee was born June 11, 1933, in Tillar, Ark., to the late Alonzo McGehee, Sr. and Salem Norwood McGehee. He was preceded in life by his mother; father; and four brothers, WJ Jackson, Troy McGehee, Sr., Marshall Roy McGehee, and Alonzo McGehee, Jr. He was a graduate of Wolfe Project High School in Tillar, Ark. In high school, Robert met Eula Mae King. After graduation they married and to this union, they had seven beautiful children. Robert confessed his belief that Jesus was his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Dumas, Ark., where he remained until his death. In 1995, Robert married Martha Ridgell Curry of Monticello, Ark. They have had some precious memories together. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Martha McGehee; seven children, Robert James McGehee, Jr. (Alice) of Pine Bluff, Ark.; Jerry D. McGehee (Deborah) of Reed, Ark.; Catha McGehee Hicks and Alonzodora McGehee (Debra) both from Pine Bluff, Ark.; Derryl Yarnell McGehee-Dunning (Kenneth), Darryl Parnell McGehee (Cassandra), and Aundrietta McGehee, all from Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Azzie Lee McGehee of McGehee, Ark., Ella McGehee of Oakland, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert was a fun loving "Uncle/Daddy" to his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Serenity Garden Funeral Services, 136 State Highway 159, Dumas, Ark. from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., on September 16, 2020, at Strickland Memorial Lawn Cemetery, McGehee, Ark. Services entrusted to Serenity Garden Funeral Services, 136 State Highway 159, Dumas, Ark. PLEASE NOTE: GUEST MUST WEAR A MASK THROUGHOUT THE SERVICES AND FOLOW THE CDC GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING.
