Katheryn Sue Dobbins

Katheryn Sue Balch Dobbins, 72, of Pine Bluff, Ark., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Mrs. Dobbins was born October 10, 1948, in Newport, Ark., to the late Howard Hillman and Inez Willis Balch. She was reared and received her education in Newport, Ark., where she graduated from Newport High School in 1966. After high school, she attended what is currently Williams Baptist College, Arkansas State University, and the University of Arkansas at Conway, where she received her teaching degree. Mrs. Dobbins began her teaching career in the Dollarway School District in 1971 at Townsend Park Elementary and retired from there in 2010 after 39 years. She was a member of the former Second Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. After the closing of the church, she attended several other churches in Pine Bluff over the years. She was a member of several education organizations and Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Zeta Chapter. Creative writing was something she loved and she had many occasions in her work and personal life that she enjoyed. She is survived by her son, Jason (Jessica) Dobbins of Sheridan; her granddaughter, Lexi Peck; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Charles E. Dobbins; two brothers, Jim and Kenny Balch; sister, Pat Bookout; and her niece, Stacy Balch. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 3, 2021, 12-1:30 p.m., at Robinson's.
