Joseph Jackson Pierre

Joseph Jackson Pierre, affectionately known as "Jackie" was born in Pine Bluff, Ark., on July 10, 1933, to the late Joseph C. and Katie B. Pierre. He received his eternal rest on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church. After graduating from St. Peter's High School, he earned a Bachelor's degree from Agricultural Mechanical and Normal College now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Mr. Pierre pursued a supervisory career with the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C., and returned to Pine Bluff following retirement. He was a Life Member of the NAACP and Second Vice President of the Pine Bluff Branch. Also, Mr. Pierre was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and actively dedicated to the AM&N/UAPB Alumni Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife, Swayzine in May 2004, and his very close cousin (like a sister), Dolores "Polly" Pierre in October 2018. Mr. Pierre is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Pierre Stewart of Arlington, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jonathan Pierre Stewart, and Chandler Camille Stewart of Bartlett, Tennessee, and a host of cousins and friends. A private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2012, at Graceland Cemetery (Cedar Grove Section) at 10 a.m., Rev. Father Eric Groner, SVD, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church will be the Officiant. All participants are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Attendance is by invitation only. Services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the AM&N/UAPB Alumni Association.
