Kathey Ann Rhoads, age 63, of Rogers, Ark., after a nine-year battle with breast cancer, went to be home with her Savior on August 15, 2021. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 5, 1958, to Billy R. Starnes and Stella Flanagan Starnes. When she was eight years old, her family moved to Hindsville, Arkansas. She was raised on a beef cattle and laying hen farm, where she learned the value of hard work. She attended Hindsville School until it merged with Huntsville School. Kathey graduated from Huntsville High School in 1976. Kathey is survived by her husband, George R. Rhoads, of the home, her son, Eric Wayne Gifford, of Lowell, Arkansas, her grandsons, Krew Wayne Gifford and Tanner Lane Gifford of Huntsville, Arkansas, her stepchildren, Sarah Reid, (husband, Matt, and children, Isaac and Desmond), of Buckhannon, West Virginia, and Rachel Carpenter, (husband Malcolm and child Malcolm Robert) of Rogers, Arkansas, her sister, Janet Coffman (husband Ed) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, her niece, Stacy Leann Watkins (children Olivia Joy Watkins, Jonna Elizabeth Watkins, and Isabella Rose Tennial) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, her niece, Amanda Webster (husband Matt and children Elijah and Hudson) of Lowell, Arkansas, her nephew, Josh Starnes (children Adalyn, Emery, Landry, and Reagan) of Hindsville, Arkansas, her niece, Ashton Cornelison (husband Joe and children Bentley and Julie) of Huntsville, Arkansas, her grandnephew, Braxton, Starnes, her maternal aunt, Paula Skaggs (husband Truman and children Tonya Immel and Shawn Skaggs) her maternal uncle, Bob Flanagan (child Kerry Flick), and her paternal uncle, Bob Starnes (wife Melba and children Leslie and Renee). She is predeceased by her parents, her paternal grandparents, William Ross and Gladys Starnes, her maternal grandparents, Paul and Eva Flanagan, her brother, Jon Michael Starnes, and her nephew, Samuel Oryn Dean Starnes. Kathey began her career as a medical professional in 1989. She was the first employee of Highlands Oncology in 1996 and served as its Chief Operating Officer until her retirement in 2019. She was instrumental in helping the physicians create the successful oncology practice that Highlands Oncology is today. During her tenure at Highlands, Kathey had a deep passion for relationship building. She was blessed to have created relationships not only in northwest Arkansas but across the United States. After retirement, Kathey developed a love of quilting and delighted in making and giving away quilts. Kathey was an active and faithful member of Central United Methodist Church, Rogers, Arkansas. A memorial service for Kathey will be held at the Church, at 2535 West New Hope Road, Rogers, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m., in the church narthex preceding the memorial service.
