Harold Edward Lafferty, 93, of 1301 Woodland Way, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Meritus Medical Center. Born Sunday, June 17, 1928, in Mayflower, Ark. He was the son of the late Virgil Lindsey Lafferty and the late Anna Burnett Lafferty. Harold (who often went by Ed) had a long career in pharmaceutical and industrial engineering sales management. In retirement, he took positions that interested him, as varied as working with the mentally handicapped for the Washington County (Maryland) Arc, in the electronics department of Sam's Club, and for the U.S. Census Bureau. In his 80s, he obtained his CDL license and drove reticulated tractor trailers across the United States. A prolific writer, he has written three books and an edition of his memoirs. His Christadelphian faith was the most important aspect of his life; he was a biblical scholar and lecturer, and taught classes at bible schools across the country. His passion was biblical prophecy, and he published a prophecy newsletter up until his untimely passing. As a tour facilitator and leader, he set up and led journeys to Israel and the Middle East over half a dozen times. He and Phyllis also traveled several times to Europe and Great Britain, and to all corners of North America. Harold never met a stranger, he could and would speak to anyone he encountered, and had a great empathy for everyone. He was a loyal friend and would spend hours on the phone or in correspondence with people across the globe. He had great pride and love for his wife, two children and grandson. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ann Lafferty; daughter, Lindsey M. Lafferty of Hagerstown, Md.; son, Joel Edward Lafferty and wife Colleen of Hagerstown, Md.; grandson, Benjamin Edward Lafferty of Hagerstown, Md. Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md. on Monday, January 3, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. Services will be private. Private interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.
