DR. MARK D. SEEFELD, age 67 years, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly near his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Mark was born on January 18, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Dr. Philip Henry Seefeld and Jeanne (Henkel) Seefeld. Mark was a highly accomplished scientist and executive in the field of drug safety. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology in 1982. During his distinguished career of 35+ years, Mark led efforts to ensure the safety of many promising new drugs and therapies. Most recently, Mark served as Vice President, Head of Toxicology at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals in Madison, Wisconsin. Beyond his substantial intellect and professional accomplishments, Mark was an easy-going and good-natured soul, who adored the companionship of his wife, Angie, and other loved ones and friends. Mark's personal interests and hobbies included University of Wisconsin football, golf, and especially mingling with friends and colleagues. Mark was a profoundly generous and kind person with a quick wit and an easy smile. He routinely and inherently recognized and promoted the value of others. Above all else, Mark was a great and kind-hearted person who deeply cared about his loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Mark's brilliant mind, loving soul, and kind demeanor will be sorely missed by his many friends and family. Mark is survived by his wife, Angie Seefeld; his daughter, Lauren Swain (Sam); his brothers, John Seefeld (Mary) and Philip Seefeld, Jr. (Susan); his stepchildren, Jessica Duncan Johnston (Phillip), Lyndsay Carter (Grant), and Cole Wilson; and his grandchildren, Jack Swain, and Ann Marie and McCall Carter. A future tribute and celebration of Mark's life will be planned for friends and family in the coming months. Memorial contributions to Arkansas Food Bank or Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin would be sincerely appreciated as both organizations were dear to him.
