Dr. Joyce H. Misenheimer

Dr. Joyce H. Misenheimer, age 84 years, passed away in Fayetteville, Ark., on January 22, 2021. She was born February 5, 1936, at Lewisville, Ark., to Homer and Ethel Bright Hurd, who preceded her in death. Joyce graduated from Springhill High School, Springhill, La. She attended Jacksonville College, Jacksonville, Texas; Valencia College, Orlando, Fla.; and Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Ark. She is a graduate of University of Arkansas at Little Rock (BSE), Little Rock, Ark. and University of Arkansas (MEd and EdD), Fayetteville, Ark.. Joyce taught Kindergarten in Orlando, Fla., and Second Grade at Bryant and Springdale, Ark.. She was Assistant Principal at Parson Hills Elementary School, Springdale, Ark. She served as Professor at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo., John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark., and University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Ark. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Phillip L. (Phil) Misenheimer of the home; two children, Cindy (Mark) Cady of Rogers, Ark., and Greg (Sandy) Misenheimer of Springdale, Ark. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Keyla (Marcus) Sugg of Fayetteville, Ark., Devin (Andy Manelski) Payne of Chicago, Ill., Tanner Payne of Hawaii, Leah (Matt) Seely, and Caitlin (TJ) Houk of Lowell, Ark. Joyce is survived by great-grandchildren, Cody, Conner and Chloe Reed, of Fayetteville, Ark.; and a brother-in-law, Bobby (Rae) Misenheimer. Joyce is also survived by step-grandchildren, Josh and Brandon (Ashley) Cady of Sheridan, Ark., and Michael, Cassandra and Christina Trexler of Springdale, Ark. She is survived by step-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Nathaniel Cady of Sheridan, Ark.; as well as her sister in law, Ann Misenheimer, of Temple, Texas. A private family service was held with no graveside service. In making plans for her service, Joyce and family have requested no flowers, and that any memorials may be made to Gideons International, Willard Walker Hospice Home or the church or organization of your choice. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Highlands Oncology Group and to Washington Regional Hospice.
