Mary Elizabeth Davis, 84, of Springdale, died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Countryside Assisted Living, Huntsville. She was born Sunday, September 27, 1936, at Hindsville; to Nolen and Bonnie Taylor Chappell. Mary graduated from Huntsville High School in 1954 and worked as a lunchroom meal planner and cook at Hindsville Elementary. She also worked at the Valley Bank in Hindsville, later becoming a secretary at the Washington County Health Clinic in Fayetteville. Mary married John R. Davis on Friday, August 20, 1954 at Hindsville, and together they were parents to three children. She became a homemaker in 1958 and enjoyed making beautiful clothing for her family and serving wonderful meals to her loved ones. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas Davis; and one brother, Jim Chappell. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, John Davis of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Angie and Chuck Whittle of Springdale, and Leisa and Steve Brown of Springdale; one sister, Ann and Rex Brown of Bolivar, Mo.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three nephews, and one niece. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2021, at Colbaugh Cemetery with Loren Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be beloved family members, Chuck Whittle, Steve Brown, Ken Davis, Neal Whittle, Alex Brown, and Austin Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Brown, Kyle Brown, Scott Brown, Laura Davis, Shaun Cannaday, and Spencer Nelson. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
