Harold Fortson

Harold Fortson, 87 of Jacksonville, passed away on July 8, 2021. He was born in Olmstead, Ark., on February 2, 1934, to Coy and Beulah Douglas Fortson. Harold was a retired dairy and cattle farmer. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and song leader. He served on the Pulaski County Quorum Court, Pulaski County Deputy Mounted Patrol, and was a longtime Farm Bureau board member. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Jewel Dean Fortson; granddaughter, Sarah Hillman; brother, Edward Fortson; and daughter-in-law, Shari Fortson. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Christene Fortson; three sons: Leon (Janice), James, Johnny (Shanda); and one daughter, Virginia Young (Larry); eight grandchildren, Chris, Candice, Daniel (Poodoo), Jamie, Philip, Doug, Justin, Kerri; and 16 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Priscilla Barnes (Manuel), Charlotte Fredeen (Doug), and Eddie Horton (Tammy); eight step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Roseanne Hodges and Jo McElduff with VA Medical Center, Barbara Fennell, and Arkansas Hospice for their care. Visitation will be Sunday, July 11, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. Funeral will be Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
