Danny Floyd Gibson, 77, of Walnut Ridge died peacefully in his home, Thursday, June 3, 2021; following a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Danny was born October 13, 1943 and was the son of Dan and Jewell Gibson. Danny, a life-long resident of Lawrence County, graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1961 and attended college at ASU and Arkansas Tech. He owned Danny Gibson Realty Company for several years and was the owner of Danny Gibson Shelter Insurance for over 45 years. Danny was a business partner in GAW with Jack Allison and Harold Willmuth. The partnership had interests in a mini-storage, farms, a cemetery, and North Ridge Subdivision. Danny also owned commercial and residential properties. Danny was an active and respected member of the community. He served 10 years on the Walnut Ridge School Board, was a member of the Kawanis Club, was Past President of Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Lawrence County Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Danny was a gift to all who knew him. If you met Danny, he considered you a friend for life. From an idyllic childhood (some might say he was "spoiled") to his wildy fun and mischievous high school days, as a young businessman raising two beautiful daughters, and throughout his successful career, Danny was always a friend to everyone. No politician could "work the room" any better. For Danny, it was always sincere. He genuinely loved people and was loved in return. Danny was a mentor to many and was always ready to give his time and wise advice. He said many times that one never knows when a word of advice, a kind word, or even a small loan could change a life. Danny, who was called "Hoot" by many, loved fishing, cooking out, dancing with Sue, visiting, traveling, and having lunch at the Polar Freeze. The greatest joy in Danny's life was being with his family. He had a deep and unconditional love for each member of his family. He loved sharing his wealth of knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He has left an enormous hole in our hearts. Danny was preceded by his parents and his two sisters, Mable Gibson Riddle and Geraldine Kosovitch. He is survived by his loving wife, partner, and best friend of 31 years, Sue; his daughters and their spouses, Sloane and Terry Kelley, and Shannon and Phillip Tolson all of Walnut Ridge; his bonus daughter and son and their spouses, Elizabeth and Wade Williams of Fayetteville, and Jeff and Allison Hatfield of Little Rock, 13 grandchildren, Cameron Kelley, Barrett Kelley, Caroline Kelley, John-Scott and wife Rebekah Kelley, Andrew Smith, Abbey Cox, Matthew Cole, Jackson Cole, Henry Cole, Meredith Hatfield, Garrett Hatfield, Lucinda Prettyman, Leslie Williams, the mother of his daughters, Paula Enderwood, and a host of family and friends. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Cameron Kelley, Barrett Kelley, John-Scott Kelley, Andrew Smith, Matthew Cole, Henry Cole, Matthew Cox. Honorary Pallbearers are Caroline Kelley, Abbey Cox, Rebekah Kelley, Meredith Hatfield, Rex Ennis, Don Douglas, James Ivy, Bill Stracy, Harold Willmuth and Tim Wooldridge. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge with Reverend Beth Perdue. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m., in the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, P.O.Box 66, Walnut Ridge or Childrens Shelter, 107 Benson Dr. Walnut Ridge.
