Rebecca Jensen Gifford, age 74, of Hot Springs Village, died Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Becky was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 30, 1947, to Henry and Dorothy Jensen who both preceded her in death. On January 18, 1986, she was married to Jim Gifford. Becky received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and went on to earn her master's degree in Library Science from UCLA. Over the span of her career, she worked in various library systems, including work as a pioneer in the early 1980s in the new field of online research. She retired as the ‘beloved' head librarian for Marymount California College. Becky and Jim retired to the village in 2000 where she became active throughout the community. She was an active member of the Ouachita Mountain Hikers, past president and member of American Association of University Women, past president of the Village Computer Club, former board member of the Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild, and current board member of the Ouachita Speakers Series. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, one brother, Jeffrey Jensen (Dana) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and their sons, Eric and Adam Jensen; one brother-in-law, Thomas Gifford of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Gifford Conrad of Fripp Island, S.C.; and a host of friends. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 1 p.m., at Village United Methodist Church.
