Wayne Douglas Whitson

Wayne Douglas Whitson, 69 of Brinkley, passed away Friday, October 1 in Jonesboro. He was the owner/operator of ProShield Auto glass in Brinkley. Born in Marvell, Ark. He was a son of the late Wilburn Whitson and the late Dorothy Whitson. Wayne graduated from Marvell High School in 1970. As a young adult he was baptized and became a Christian. During his lifetime he served as an elder, song leader and teacher. He worshipped at the Church of Christ in Palestine, and he loved sharing the gospel. Wayne enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting, but spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends was his favorite activity. Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Debra Ann Houser Whitson; son, Kevin Whitson and wife Meagan of Brinkley; daughters, Angela Michelle Teal and husband Jeff of Brinkley, Alisha Ann Young and husband Danny of Poplar Grove; brothers, Johnny (Julia) Whitson of Bee Branch, Tony Whitson of Quitman, Jody Whitson of Marvell, Jeff Whitson (Anne), and Rocky Whitson all of Vilona; Sisters, Ann Polk of Osage, Rosalee (Pat) George of Cleveland, Miss., Sandra Doles of Mayflower, Debra (Joe) Odle of Aubrey, Shannon (Allen) Dillinger of Marvell; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., at Bob Neal & Sons Chapel. Graveside Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 4, at Oaklawn Cemetery at Brinkley.
