Betty Lorie Wheeler

Betty Lorie Wheeler, went to meet her heavenly Father on October 2, 2021, in Glendale, Ariz. Betty was born on July 24, 1931, in Pea Ridge, Ark., to Orville and Alma Crabtree. She attended Pea Ridge schools, graduating in 1949. She married Leland J. Dean shortly after, and spent her time gardening and canning, sewing, involved in the Methodist church and raising their daughter, Phyllis. A move to Kansas City in 1963 for Leland to attend Cleveland Chiropractic College also began Betty's career with Sears and Roebuck Co. in the credit department. Upon their divorce in 1966, Betty accepted a transfer to the Rogers, Ark., Sears store and retired from Sears in 1988. Betty had married Jack Wheeler in 1973, and after her retirement they enjoyed traveling the country, camping, fishing and hiking. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and learning to paint. Betty was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Rogers for over 50 years where she was devoted to the sewing circle, making and delivering layettes to the Rogers Memorial Hospital for over 18 years. Betty cherished her family above all, helping raise her stepchildren, Mike and Liz. She enjoyed hosting family dinners as well as babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although Alzheimer's stole her sharp mind it did not take her sweet spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, and her brother, Lynn Crabtree. She leaves her children: Phyllis Dean White of Sun City West, Ariz., Liz Heimbach of Rogers, Mike Wheeler of Bella Vista, and Linda Tarver of Austin, Texas. Grandchildren: Christie Rust of Shreveport, La., Jaron Collis of Bentonville, Cindy McKinney of Austin, Texas, Dan Tarver of Austin, Texas, Ellen Smith of Bentonville, Sarah Kitt of Wauneta, Neb., Alex Wheeler of Goodman, Mo., and Mariah Wheeler of Venita, Okla. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church of Rogers, Ark., interment will follow at the Pea Ridge Cemetery. The family asks that any remembrances of Betty be made to the First United Methodist Church in her name. Arrangements by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers.
