Ercel "Frank" Franklin Freeman, 99 of Dumas passed away April 11, 2022. Frank was born September 14, 1922, in Tyro, Ark., and was the son of the late John Franklin Freeman and Leota Smith. His parents and three sisters, Audley Freeman Johnson, Maurine Freeman Price, and Jane Freeman Shalles preceded him in death. Frank was a faithful member, who served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and was a lifetime trustee at First Baptist Church in Dumas, Ark. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Lions Club. During his career, Frank was a farmer and owner of Freeman Farms. He was a basketball coach and teacher in Portland and Dumas. He served as superintendent of Southeast Academy. Frank was a commissioned officer in the United States Navy during World War II. Survivors are his wife, Nelline Campbell Freeman, of Dumas, Ark.; and children, Nancy Freeman McGraw and husband, Rick, Linda Freeman Cruce and husband, Warner, and Bettye Ann Freeman, all of Little Rock, Ark.; and son, John Freeman and wife, Rachel, of Dumas, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and service will be Friday, April 15, 2022, First Baptist Church, Dumas, Ark. Visitation is at 1 p.m., and the funeral service is at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dubs Byers and Rev. Reuel Cruce officiating. Burial in Dark Corner Cemetery will follow. Memorials in memory of Frank may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 East Waterman Street, Dumas, Ark. 71639.
