James Robert Benton, 82, died Saturday, March 19, 2022, at his residence, Stonebridge Assisted Living of Cabot. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on April 22, 2022, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, with a memorial fellowship following at Burns Park. Jim was born on November 21, 1939 in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Robert and F. Pauline (Alexander) Benton. He married the love of his life, Janet Sue Schneider, on August 17, 1963. They were married 33 years until her passing in 2002. He was a retired MSgt of the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1978. He served on many details but was most proud of his time serving on Air Force One for Presidents Johnson and Nixon, and his time spent working with missiles until his retirement from LRAFB. Upon retirement, he began working for Falcon Jet, where he spent another 20 years, and retired. Jim was an avid fisherman, loved to camp, spend time with family, and garden. He was known by his kids as "Mr. Fix It" and everybody knew all animals and children loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; and his brother William (Bill) Benton. He is survived by his son, Jon Benton, and daughter-in-love, Lori (Kevin) Mills; his grandchildren, Michael (Kassidy) Benton, Charles (Jordan) French, Kala (Michael) Davis, Tiffany (Mills) Dailey, Matthew and Andrew Mills; and his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Grayson Dailey.
