Terrance "Ray" Hummel

Terrance "Ray" Hummel, a proud veteran of the USAF, passed away of natural causes on March 30, 2022. The son of Frank and Una Hummel, he was born on August 22, 1927, in Winona, W. Va. He graduated from Rupert (W. Va.) High School in 1946. At the age of 19, after a short stint working in the coal mines, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He valued his military service and attained the rank of MSGT. As part of his service, he served two tours in Germany, one tour in Japan, and two tours in the Missile program. He retired in 1968 and was proud of the military service of his three children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Hummel; and son Timothy Hummel. He is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Burley (Jeff); son, Bo Hummel (Kathy); granddaughter, Stephanie Wilson (Josh); and two great-grandchildren, Avalon and Camp. Ray was an avid golfer, and proud of his two holes-in-one, the second one at the age of 80. His loved ones and friends remember his energy, curiosity, charity to others and his love for God and his church. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark. An entombment was held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, W. Va. A service honoring the life of Ray will be held at The First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark., at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to either one of Ray's favorite charities (St. Jude's. Shriners, Tunnels to Towers, or Folds of Honor), or a charity of your choice.
