Rita G. Garrett, 76 of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Friday, December 2,2022 in Springdale, Ark., after an ongoing battle with cancer. She was born March 18,1946 in Nuremburg, Germany to John Marshall Coxe and Margarete (Merkel) Mitchell. Rita was an incredible office manager for Farm Bureau Insurance Company, a devout member for 50 years at North Street Church of Christ and Mt. Comfort Church of Christ, and a rock-solid foundation of love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. From the cherished memories of German pancakes and sleepovers to the celebration of every grandchild's milestone, Omi was there every step of the way. Not only was she a wonderful grandmother, she excelled at motherhood and along with her husband formed a strong foundation for her family. Rita could always be counted on for being hard working, humble, and kind. We have heard countless stories of her gentle and generous nature. She not only demonstrated compassion and care for others, she was a friend to animals. Whether it was a dog, cat, or even a squirrel in need of nurturing, she opened her door. She loved to garden, bird watch, and always had something she read to share with her kids. Rita placed high value on education and was supportive and encouraging of her children's educational pursuits and dreams. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, the love of her life, David R. "Randy" Garrett, two sons, John Garrett and wife Holly of Cave Springs, Ark., Jared Garrett and wife Becky of Cave Springs, Ark., two brothers David Wilson and wife Adrienne of Huntsville, Ala., Ted Wilson of Fayetteville, Ark., one sister, Valeska Rowland of Fayetteville, Ark., and five grandchildren, Kinley Garrett, Brooklyn Garrett, Holden Garrett, Noelle Garrett, and Norah Garrett. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 10th at Mt. Comfort Church of Christ in Fayetteville with burial to follow at Farmington Cemetery.
