Karlyce J. Pestello (nee Bath) passed away on December 10, 2022, surrounded by family. Those closest to Karlyce knew she was a fun, witty and happy woman always waiting for her next adventure. She recently returned from a therapeutic and healing trip around the world for six weeks, after the passing of her son, Robert Pestello, in Thailand. Karlyce was a graduate of the 1961 class at Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minn. In 2007 she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Minnesota. Karlyce's love for travel spilled into her 25-year career with the Navy. She was able to serve all over the world, to include the caves between North and South Korea, in Key West where she partnered with the DEA, NORAD Mountain in Colorado where she was the first female commander, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and Belgium where she reported to a General for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). You wouldn't think such a quirky and particular eater could accomplish so much, but there was nothing she couldn't or wouldn't do. When you asked her a question, her first response was always YES! She said life was too short not to eat dessert first (as she often did) for fear of being too full later. You could find her munching on her favorite treat, banana popsicles, at any time of the day. She is survived by her daughter, Susan and her husband, Scott; her son, Jack and his wife Angela; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and lifelong friends from all over the globe. In leu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to a children's charity in her name.
