Audrey Dene Daugherty

AUDREY DENE DAUGHTERY, died on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born April 2, 1928, in Boydell, Ark., to the late James Riley and Mary Ada (Beavers) Casteel. She graduated from Drew Central High School, Monticello, Ark., in 1946 and attended Capital City Business College in Little Rock. She started working in accounting in 1947 completing her studies at the college at night. She began working as an income tax consultant in 1971. She was an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service in 1980. She retired from accounting in 1984 and from H&R Block in 2001. She was a past member of the Credit Women's Breakfast Club of Little Rock and a past member of the Arkansas Society of Public Accountants. She was a member of Trinity Assembly of God church (since 1950). She taught Sunday School class for 40 years, served as Christ Ambassador (youth) president, taught in vacation bible schools, assisted in Hi-Teen (youth) Dept, was church bookkeeper for 18 years, helped organize the Missionette program (for girls) at the church. She served as Women's Ministries' secretary/treasurer, worked in the Golden Agers' Ministry, was involved in providing tapes of church services to shut-ins, was a member of the sanctuary choir and the church orchestra. She was a member of the Greeting Team in later years. She was married to Vertis Daugherty on July 14, 1951. She is survived by two sons, Timothy E. Daugherty (Rixie) of Gillett, Ark.; Edwin B. Daugherty of Little Rock; daughter, Melissa J. Clark (Barney) of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Sean Daugherty (Amy) of New York, Elizabeth Sprout of West Virginia, Michael Clark (Hannah) of Little Rock, Elizabeth Hall (Thomas) of Siloam Springs; four great-grandchildren, Liam Daugherty of New York, Isaiah Clark and Maeve Clark of Little Rock and Felix Hall of Siloam Springs; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vertis; four brothers, Leon, Orville, Ellis and R.H.; four sisters, Edith, Ivy, Pauline and Helen; and one granddaughter, Victoria Leigh Daugherty of Virginia. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Trinity Assembly of God, Little Rock.
