George Brady Doty Sr.

George Brady Doty Sr., 86, of Conway, Ark., passed away on February 19, 2022. George was born to J.B. Doty and Carribell Brady Doty on March 6, 1935, in Conway, Ark. He was married to the love of his life, Betty Nicholson Doty, on July 27, 1956, and together they raised their son, George Brady "Brad" Doty II. George was a long-time educator, working as a science teacher and Superintendent for the Hughes School District. He also proudly served in the Arkansas Air National Guard, where he achieved the rank of Lt. Col. until his retirement from both. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and his Italian Greyhound "Henry". He could often be found listening to music, watching TV, and shooting guns. George was very active in his community and church, he was a Rotary member and Boy Scout leader. He was a long-standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conway, where he served on the First Presbyterian Church Session, The Church Preschool Board, and the Conway Cradle Care Board. He is survived by his son, George Brady "Brad" Doty II; and his sisters-in-law, Sammy Nicholson Byford, Carol Ann Nicholson Norman, and Wanda Doty; brother-in-law, Larry Gus "Buck" Nicholson; and his nephew, Greg Doty. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack B Doty; his brothers-in-law, J.D. Nicholson and Stoney Nicholson; and his sisters-in-law, Rosemary Nicholson Fortenberry and Wilma Nicholson Tiner. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, February 23, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, from 6-8 p,m. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at First Presbyterian Church located at 2400 Prince St, Conway, Ark. 72034 (masks are required for "in-person worship"). In lieu of flowers, the family requests any tributes be made to First Presbyterian Church of Conway.
