Paul James Bubbus

Paul James Bubbus, age 65, entered Heaven's gate February 15, 2022. He peacefully passed away at his home in Russellville. Paul grew up in Pine Bluff and attended Watson Chapel Schools. He was baptized and became a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church. In his early teens, Paul was an award-winning horseback rider. He won untold first place ribbons and trophies from Double L Saddle Club and Sulphur Springs Saddle Club. His father owned and operated Pine Bluff Carpet Laying Service; Paul and brother, Clifford, continued the floor covering business with much success. Wanting more of an adventure, Paul, moved to south Louisiana to work as a roustabout on the oil rig sites. He worked in places such as Nigeria, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, and on offshore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. In his retirement years, Paul returned to Arkansas and enjoyed cooking, deer hunting trips and the outdoors with his brothers and cousins, collecting driftwood, feeding, and watching birds. His family and friends will miss him and his fun-loving and giving nature. Paul is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Margie Prine Bubbus; his young daughter, Heather Nicole; two brothers, Clifford Gus Bubbus and David Vernon Bubbus; and two nieces, Ellie Harris and Kayla Bubbus. Paul is survived by his brother, Larry Bubbus; two sisters, Gail Spadoni (Billy) and Teresa Harris, (Leo); sister-in-law, Marilyn Bubbus; nieces and nephews, Jerimy Spadoni, Andrea Spadoni Smith (Patrick), John Bubbus (Lisa) and Brandy Bubbus Scruggs (William); seven great-nieces and nephews; and the extended Bubbus and Prine families. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Shinn Chapel. Burial will be private and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
