Richard Doyle Cantrell

Richard Doyle Cantrell, age 80, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed from this life Wednesday, June 1, 2022. He was born January 20, 1942, in Stilwell, Okla., a son of the late Ola Cantrell and Hazel Hughes Cantrell. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Glenola Joe Glenn and Earline Scraper. Richard was employed by a consulting firm in McAlester, Oklahoma, from 1962 to 1971. At this time, he moved to Northwest Arkansas and began working for McGoodwin, Williams & Yates, where he served as an engineering technician and project development manager. Outside of his work, he loved and enjoyed working on the farm and taking care of his cattle. Richard was a Christian, a gentle calming presence, loved by many and never met a stranger. Survivors are his wife, Thresha Fritz Cantrell; a son, Gregory Cantrell; a step-daughter, Cheryl Sykes; a step-son, Cary Wilson; a brother, Alvis "Bud" Cantrell; sisters, Oleta Perry, Kaylyn Saunders; six grandchildren, Greyson Cantrell, Reagan Cantrell, Hannah Cypert, Jessica Gibson, Cooper Wilson, and Sam Wilson. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A graveside service will follow at Baptist Ford Cemetery.
