Marvin Slaughter

Marvin Slaughter, 75, of East End, Ark., passed away June 24, 2022. Marvin was born July 7, 1946, in Osceola, Ark., to the late Carl and Esthelee Slaughter. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967 on the USS Oklahoma City during the Vietam era. He began his railroad career with the Rock Island Railroad, continued with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and retired with 30 years of service from the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved tinkering with old cars and John Deere riding lawnmowers. He traveled with three of his brothers on many motorcycle trips across the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Cleo Slaughter. Marvin is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lawonna Adair Slaughter; one son, Tony Slaughter and Denita of Bauxite; a daughter, Lisa Slaughter Johnson and Mike of Bauxite; a stepson, James Tyner of Little Rock; brothers, Travis Slaughter and Brenda of Southaven, Miss., Newton Slaughter and Rosie of Colona, Illinois, Jimmy Slaughter and the late Linda of Adamsville, Tenn., Marty Slaughter and special friend, Mary of Oakland, Tenn.; sisters, Alice Martin and the late Hugh of Stantonville, Tenn., Martha Sue Hubbell and Tom of Mapleton, Illinois; four grandchildren; two great-grandbabies, and one on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
